St. Michaels, MD - We headed out to the Eastern Shore this weekend to celebrate Greg and Amanda getting married. The day couldn’t have been more beautiful and it seemed around every turn there was something even more beautiful.

First, the town of St. Michael’s. Absolutely gorgeous! Second, the Wade’s Point Bed & Breakfast where I took photos of Amanda and her bridesmaids. Thirdly, Christ Church. It’s a beautiful building built in the late 1800’s. Then there was the reception. On the bay at sunset. Doesn’t get much more beautiful! Unless of course, a full moon rises!

Greg and Amanda are truly loved! Their friends and family had so many wonderful things to say about them and they were all so extremely excited to see Greg and Amanda become husband and wife.

Baltimore Harbor - At the beginning of the month, I headed up to Baltimore to shoot a wedding with Kellan Studios and my brother, Ryan. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… I love shooting with my brother! There’s not much that can top a day of shooting in which you know when you upload the photos there are going to be hundreds of quality images from the other! It makes the day so relaxing (even if there are some brotherly quarrels about directions).

Oh wait! There is one thing that tops a day of shooting with my bro… a day of shooting with my bro AND a day when my other brother, Dan, flies from the other side of the country to spin the music at the wedding!

There IS one more thing… add all of the above plus the reception being a dinner cruise in the Baltimore Harbor!

What a fun day. Brett and Sarah were super relaxed and had a lot of fun with their photos (please see Brett in the air to the right)!
One of my favorite groomsmen photos I’ve taken this year

I really dig this photo of the guys

I love when the groomsmen ask us to do crazy things like, “Can we throw Brett in the air?” OF COURSE!!!

LOVED the flowers (more bouquet photos below)

This red couch ROCKED!

We asked a couple to get on their sailboat just before our boat took off… luckily we didn’t miss the boat

Experimenting with the amazing clouds that were overhead

CAKE SMASH!

There was a small storm while we were on the water making way for a beautiful sunset

Sandy Point State Park, Maryland - I love baptisms!

To watch someone proclaim their faith in public with a couple hundred people and a man sunbathing in a pink g-string bikini 20 feet away, is one of the more spectacular things about following Jesus Christ. Just before the person enters the polluted bay to make a symbolic profession of faith, they, eyes squinting in the setting sun, tell stories of how they came to this moment.

One boy, just 10 years old, at most, said, “My dad isn’t a Christian and this is one of the ways that I can practically show him that I’m serious about my faith.” THAT, to me, is amazing! As he entered the water and listened to the pastor of National Community Church, Mark Batterson, he looked up with intensity, hanging on every word they said about what he was about to do. As they lowered him into the water and raised him out, he threw his hands up in the rock n’ roll hand gesture.

It’s that joy that I love to capture. It’s what draws me to photograph weddings. It’s what draws me to shooting photographs in the first place. I love what I do. I love stopping that one moment that you pause and say, “I commit my life to you” to someone. It doesn’t get any better than raw emotion!

Every year, I help add to the video at National Community Church by taking these photos. 2 years ago, Jeremy Sexton, made this
Portraits of the Baptizee’s

Richmond, VA - We don’t normally go into weddings without first meeting the couple but every once in a while it happens. That was the case with the wedding I shot with Ryan for Kellan Studios. I headed out to Richmond, VA on Saturday morning to meet up with Ryan for a day of shooting.

It was another scorcher of a wedding, but again, absolutely amazing! You could tell how much Rachel and Danny love each other. They are such a relaxed couple and by the teary-eyed speeches, you could tell they have some great friends as well.

As the sun began to set, the light become so amazing and we headed down to a stream that cut through the property for their private session.

The night ended with Danny pulling a blow-up guitar and rockin’ out to AC/DC “Back in Black” when he was taking off the garter. There was some great dancing as well. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Morgan Hill, CA - Amy and Luke got married on Saturday afternoon!

I’ve known Amy for a couple of years now. We met at church and she was one of those recognizable faces. She was one of the first people you saw as you walked in and she always greeted you with a smile. In fact, I don’t think she could help but smile at you. I think her mouth is permanently in the smile position. It’s infectious!

Simple weddings are so refreshing. I love it when family and friends get together and make it so easy for the bride and groom. Everyone was so excited to see Amy and Luke married!

After their vows we headed to Aptos to take some photos by the pier of the cement ship that is docked there. I didn’t believe that a cement ship could float but Amy assured me that it did… once.

Be sure to head over to Pictage to sign up for an email update when the photos are ready to view. Here are just a few from the day!
I love this family photo!

Bethesda, MD - I took Kayce and Craig out to shoot their engagement photos last week in Bethesda to fulfill part of their wedding package through SNAP! All of our packages include an engagement shoot. Some people don’t want to get engagement photos taken but it’s not just about documenting this new chapter in your relationship, it’s building a relationship with your photographer who is shooting the biggest day of your life. I don’t know about you, but I want that trust between me and my photographer built before he/she shows up on my wedding day.

Kayce and Craig were great! They really got into it and got really comfortable in front of the camera. At one point, Kayce was doing a split across two poles. The photo is on the right.

Their is going to be a not-so-traditional style wedding. They’re working on getting their old high school’s auditorium for their wedding ceremony. Should be a lot of fun!
In August, Mark Batterson is releasing his second book from Multnomah Books and needed some photos for the book.

Garfield Park, Washington DC - Last week, I met up with Dave, Jen, and their son, David to take some photos of them at Garfield Park in Washington DC.

We had no idea that David was going to be a man on a mission and by mission I mean avoiding the camera in any way possible. At 18 months, he is a fireball and shoots this way and that with reckless abandon. Jen told me he hasn’t sat still for a photo since he was 10 months. Well, little did David know, that I was on a mission too… get a family portrait of the whole family.

After a quick 2 hour session at sunset and lots of running around with David we finally took to the slide. Who knew that if mom and dad slide down the slide on their stomachs a smile would creep across David’s face? A less than traditional portrait, but a portrait nonetheless.

Enjoy!
Old Town Alexandria, VA - Adele, Jeff, and I took to the streets of Old Town Alexandria at the beginning of this month to take their engagement photos.

I love shooting in Old Town. There’s so much going on and the streets and buildings get older and filled with so much more character as you get closer to the waterfront. That’s where we ended up. The Landing is a great place to hang out. There’s a lot going on but it’s so peaceful if you walk down the pier a bit.

Appomattox, VA - The planning was over and all the last minute details attended to. The playbook was pulled out and it was time for Ben and Darcy to get married at Spring Grove Farm Bed & Breakfast.

Through our consultations and engagement photo session, Ben and Darcy have been keeping me in the loop as to what to expect on the wedding day. I could only imagine what it would be like. My imagination fell far short of what the day actually turned out to be.

The day was beautiful and HOT, one of the hottest days of the year! The heat didn’t ruin anyone’s spirit one bit.

Ben and Darcy have some amazing family and friends. Several times I watched as someone would make sure that they had enough to drink or needed anything. Their family and friends also know how to party!

When the hip-hop started, the party was ON! Despite the heat and humidity, the dancing raged on for two and a half straight hours providing my awesome assistant and brother, Ryan, and I some amazing reception photographs.

Ben and Darcy, Thank you so much for everything! You were so fun to work with! Thank you for your hospitality, even on your wedding day, for my brother and I. We are both thankful for the endless amount of water you provided for us as we ran around capturing your big day! I hope you love the photographs!

National Cathedral, Washington DC - In the last two years at my apartment, we’ve had an explosion of engagements. Nick has only been my roommate for about 8 months now but he is now the fifth guy to get engaged in our house in the last 2 and a half years. I don’t know what it is, but there must be something in the water.

Nick found himself a wonderful girl who has been a friend of mine for almost 2 years.

Melissa and Nick are getting married in Florida at the end of August and SNAP! is so excited to be shooting their wedding. It’s always so much fun shooting weddings for friends!

We took to the streets of our neighborhood last week to take some engagement photos. Then we headed up to the National Cathedral where we found some great spots in the gardens to take photos.

Congratulations Nick and Melissa! The bathroom better be clean when I get home, Nick! Just kidding!

New York City - Last week, I traveled up to New York City to shoot engagement photos for Greg and Amanda.

They are getting married August 16, in St. Michael’s, Maryland. I’m really looking forward to those photos. There are some great views there.

It was a great shoot! We had great light in Central Park and as the sun set, we headed to the subway for some shots and then headed towards the light of Times Square. The crowds were bigger than normal and not moving because Will Smith was there shooting his new movie, Hancock.

For this shoot, I took my friend, Jeremy Sexton, along to shoot some video so you can get an idea of what a typically shoot looks like. I’ve been able to see the raw footage he shot and, I can tell you, it looks amazing! I can’t wait to show you the final product.

Georgetown, Washington DC - I never thought posting photos on Flickr would give me contacts for possible clients, but it did.

Ben and Darcy found me on Flickr in June of 2007 and decided to see if I would be willing to shoot their wedding. After several emails back and forth and about 4 months, we finally met and got them set up with a package for their wedding which is right around the corner of June 7 (06/07/08) in Appomattox, VA.

After several rainouts (it has done nothing but rain this spring… I’m afraid for a super muggy wedding season… NOTE TO SELF: bring an extra shirt to each wedding), we were finally able to get a beautiful evening to shoot some photos in Georgetown. We started at the waterfront and work our way up M St. and then finished things up on the path by the canal. The light was gorgeous and the photos turned out beautifully!
Indianapolis, IN - Such a fun wedding!

Doug and Gerri asked me to be their wedding photographer almost 2 years ago when my friend, Tobi (Doug’s sister), invited me to Indianapolis for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was the first time I had met them and immediately drawn to them. Now, almost 2 years later, came the day that has been 10 years in the making.

The whole day was fantastic. The setting was beautiful inside the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the reception at the Marriot ended with a heart felt sing along to “We Are The World.” Let’s just say, when it gets to THAT point in the evening… party’s OVER!

You can receive an email update when all of the photos from the day are ready to view by clicking the Pictage link at the top of the page.

Check out the photos of the day and don’t forget that SNAP! can travel with you or to you on your wedding day. We’re ready to go! Contact us today!
Radio America Studios, Arlington, VA - Doug Stephan and the Good Day crew needed some promo shots for their radio show on Radio America.

The crew was great and we laughed a lot. I even got the ladies of the group to give Doug a kiss and craziness ensued. See for yourself.
XM Radio, Washington DC - I’ve been shooting a lot recently for XM Radio and was so excited to photograph Maroon 5‘s recent visit to the XM Satellite Radio facility in Washington DC.

Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael stopped by to play a couple songs from their new record. The songs will be played alongside Maroon 5’s Top 20 Countdown on 20on20. If you’re a fan of Maroon 5, you’ll want to check out what songs Maroon 5 chose as their favorite top 20 songs.

After the performance, the guys stepped into the 20on20 studios to autograph some photos and add their name to the celebrity 20on20 sign. As we stopped by the 80’s studio, Adam saw a sweet Jackson’s jacket hanging on the wall and HAD to try it on. Both Adam and Jessie were captivated by the 1980’s memorabilia in the studio.
Michelle with Adam and Jesse
